Our Brainless Wonders of Washington

Why are banks, that are relatively healthy, precluded from making loans on real estate that meets the proper standards of underwriting?

This is causing the loss of jobs and hurting small business. It also plays havoc with taxes and fees that city governments rely upon for local demands. It makes no sense. This constraint will bring about a deep recession more forcibly than any other factor. Government is as blameworthy as are the greed-merchants of Wall Street in contributing to the chaotic economic strangulation in which this country is now gripped.

The "bailout" bill is not so much aimed at Wall Street as it is restoring proper local banking activities.
